Kenwood XR-4S/XR-1S Amplifier

Kenwood offers its four-channel (XR-4S) and mono (XR-1S) Excelon Reference Fit mini-amps. The XR-4S ($600 suggested retail price) is a digital amp that’s rated at 120 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms, 150 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms and 300 watts per channel RMS bridged at 4 ohms. Variable low-pass and high-pass filters are included with a bi-amplification setting, allowing two channels to operate in high-pass mode for front tweeters and two channels to operate in low-pass mode to drive the midrange.

The XR-1S ($600 suggested retail price) is Kenwood’s smallest mono amp ever, according to the company, and is rated at 600 watts RMS at 4 ohms and 700 watts RMS at 2 ohms.
